What sets CaRoller tools apart
Cobalt alloyed into the steel
Four of the drill sets are M35 high speed steel with 5% cobalt in the alloy itself. Those four are the ones matched to stainless steel, cast iron and titanium alloy, and the 115-piece box adds hardened steel to that list. On the 29-piece cobalt set an amber coating sits over the cobalt steel.
A 135-degree split point on every twist bit
Cobalt or titanium-coated, every drill bit in the range is ground to a 135-degree split tip. That intelligent self-centering shape prevents walking when the bit first meets smooth metal. Behind the tip, a fully ground twist design ensuring cooler drilling performance by decreasing friction.
Burrs on two shank diameters
Each tungsten carbide burr is double cut, with two cutting edges, and sits on either a 3mm (1/8 inch) or a 6mm (1/4 inch) shank. Thin shanks belong to detail carving and engraving on a rotary tool. Heavy material removal calls for the thicker shank and a die grinder to drive it.
Cases that keep sizes in order
The 13, 21 and 115-piece cobalt sets and the black and gold set ship in indexed metal boxes, so each diameter returns to its own slot. The larger cobalt boxes add a built-in clip. Both multitool kits travel in a moisture-proof, dust-proof plastic box instead.
Steels, coatings and how to look after them
Three drill steels appear across the range. M35 cobalt, with 5% cobalt, goes into the 13, 21, 29 and 115-piece cobalt sets. The black and gold set is high speed steel with an amber coating over a black oxide finish, while the hex shank set is high speed steel with a titanium coating. On the 29-piece cobalt set, the amber coating adds wear resistance and ensures long-lasting use on hard plastics, cast iron and steel.
Burrs are tungsten carbide throughout. Both 1/4 inch shank sets work metal, wood, plastic, stainless steel and marble, and the 1/8 inch sets handle lighter carving and engraving on the same materials a rotary tool can reach.
Care starts with matching steel to the job. The black and gold bits drill aluminum, copper and low alloy steel but are not meant for hardened or stainless steel, so save the cobalt bits for those. In plastic, keep the black and gold bits below 500 RPM. Returning each bit to its slot after use stops sizes from mixing, and the sealed plastic boxes keep multitool blades dry and free of dust between jobs.
